In 2019, California passed in monument to build – SB1437 – which abolished giving death or life sentences in cases of people who did not kill-other than rare extreme cases- not for being a lookout for a getaway driver. Between 800 and 2000 are said to be affected.
It’s our belief – felony murder reform advocates – that this should become a national standard.
For example – the same way in 2005 the standard became 17 and under can I be executed in America. It was passed Nationwide. So should the standards of SB1437.
We believe all states incurring these unconstitutional statues should unite. Create one voice. Create one movement and become a force that cannot be ignored.
#adoptsb1437nationally Is our banner.
If you never killed anyone nor had an intent for someone to be killed you should not be killed. And that’s by death chamber or a life sentence.
Join our consensus. We need you to help us knock out one more brick in this wall of Injustice.
Across America we are dealing with a rise against the many injustices that we have endured for so long. The issues are just too many to name. And so many go unheard of.
We face things in this country that are passed off to us as laws. Truthfully, the idea is that might be right. However, we know that brutality is often passed off as reality. When we faced Jim Crow, and Black codes it was passed off as the law. When women could not vote it was passed off as the law. Just as those things were not right and had to be fought against so is the issue that we bring to you today.
We are speaking about the law known as the felony murder rule. This is a law that is intertwined to crimes that have conspiracy as a binding factor. Unfortunately, the felony murder rule is being abused by prosecutors and is sending men to death row and giving them life sentences for no more than sometimes being present at the scene of the crime or driving a car. The prisons are being filled with people for decades upon decades when they should not be there.
California has stepped forward as the leader against this cruel and unusual punishment. those actions have been put forth in the passing of Senate Bill 1437 which now outlaws’ death and life sentences 4 people if they were not a major participant in the taking of a life.
They say this log could affect between 800 and 2,000 offenders. We seek to make this a national movement because many states are suffering from the same epidemic.
One of the leading States in this atrocity is Texas. The case of Kenneth Foster has been the leading campaign. After an international movement Kenneth Foster death sentence was commuted just six hours before his scheduled execution in 2007. In 2009 the first law of party bill was filed in Texas after him…House Bill 22672 Kenneth Foster Jr Bill. However, the passing of this law has been met by vile resistance by conservative Republicans in the legislator. However, every two years efforts are put forth to perform the law of parties. Little by little the consensus has begun to shift.
We believe the future rest and uniting as many states is possible that are dealing with the same issue. Some of these states is Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Illinois. all states must unite to where there is a national standard made in division of California Senate Bill 1437.
The importance of this is what we have seen with cases like Alice Johnson and others who suffer excessive sentencing. Though the cases we speak about or not federal and are State cases they are just important and deserve just as much attention and pressure.
We are asking you all to pay attention to this. It has flown under the radar for so long but it’s affecting thousands upon thousands of people that do not deserve to be on death row or serving life sentences.
Let’s join the movements for justice and giving these men and women who have served decades of time incarcerated a second chance at life. People are redeemable and for those that have shown it in prison they should be given the opportunity to return to society. America is the leaders in incarceration with 2.3 million. They can afford to release some deserving people.
Reach out to us and allow us to share more information about this and let’s do some good within this nation and save some lives. Thank you very much.
Help us free Kenneth Foster Jr of Texas, he never killed anyone.
